Beautifully crafted sword bayonet from the French manufacturer Chassepot. These desirable edged weapons were typically brought to the UK after the Napoleonic wars. Steel blade mounted to a brass grip with all the usual assay marks associated with this type of piece. Unfortunately it does not come with a scabbard and this is reflected in the price. Excellent overall condition.
